Dad Poll Update

We went to Grand Rapids on Saturday, thankfully the weather cooperated & it was a beautiful sunny day. Russ, Rogor & Ed met with their Mom & they discussed the options. Their first choice will be to have Dad go to the Vets Facility in Grand Rapids. Russ spoke with someone at the Vets Facility this morning & they need a medical form filled out from the Doctor at Kent Community Hospital which will be faxed over today and they need the application form that Rogor will deliver today. Russ will call them again tomorrow to make sure they got the needed paperwork & hopefully make an appointment for him & his Mom to go there sometime this week. Dad’s next Doctor evaluation is February 12 & they will make a determination at that time if they think they can help Dad. Dad Poll had a good day Saturday. Mom Poll is VERY tired. She is still recovering from her stomach virus & is exhausted from all she is dealing with. Rogor is "medical attendant" today. Ed isn't visiting anyone because he is quite sick with the flu

Poll Parent Update

Russ & I will be going to Grand Rapids on Saturday to meet with Russ’ Mom to let her know all Russ has learned about nursing homes & what to do about paperwork & financial issues. His mom is out of the hospital but is exhausted from her health issues & all she is dealing with. His Dad could stay in the rehab hospital a total of 100 days if they felt they could help him to walk & take care of himself but it sounds like they aren’t able to help him. It sounds like his dementia is just due to old age & some days are better than others. We, of course, plan to visit Russ’ Dad on Saturday also. They are considering taking him in the Vets Facility in Grand Rapids. Ed works there as a nurse & he feels Dad would get good care & Ed could keep a close eye on him. Since Ed works there & Dad is a Vet he would be put at the top of the list to get in.

Dan would like to go also but won’t be going because he has a good cold & doesn’t want to give it to anyone. Thankfully Russ & I haven’t been sick………

Poll Hospital Update & Zimmer’s in NYC

The update from Ed is that Russ’ Mom was well enough to leave Blodgett Hospital today. We’re still not sure what she had but assume it was the flu. Mike & Amy took her to the hospital where Russ’ Dad is then Ed picked her up & took her home, understandably she is very tired. Dad Poll had a good day yesterday, he was able to talk with Ed, Kevin & Rogor but wasn’t so good today.

Dawn & Scott Zimmer are going to New York City this weekend. They have tickets for “The View” on Thursday and on Friday plan to try to get in to see “Live with Regis & Kelly” just in case you want to set your VCR…… They don’t think they’ll have time to get to the “Today” show but you never know…..

Good Luck Kristie on Wednesday!!

Grandma Gettel & Dad Poll update

Russ & I went to see Grandma Gettel at lunch today. We got there before they took her to the lunch room & found her going down the hall, then tried to enter someone’s room. We walked with her for a bit around the halls then it was time for her to eat. She is on the 3rd floor. The lunch room is in the new part but her room is in the old part. There are many who have rooms in the new area. Grandma was doing fairly well. She kept asking where Earl, Kathy & Vic are. I told her Earl is in heaven & Kathy & Vic are in Florida. She seemed ok with that. She wants to write Earl a letter to tell him to visit her. She kept asking “help me”. Each time she said that I put food on her spoon & that seemed to satisfy her. She ate & drank everything. When she was done eating she wanted to go to her bed so we left when the aide took her back to her room.

Russ’ Dad was taken to Kent Community Hospital on Friday. According to Ed & Rogor he didn’t have a good day yesterday but seems to be better today. The staff is having a real problem with him at night – not taking medication & he is not cooperating. His health seems to be improving but his mental facilities aren’t doing so well. Russ & I plan to go there next Saturday for the day. Dan won’t be able to go because he is working all night at the SAC on Friday night.

Dad Poll update

The report from Ed & Kevin are that Dad Poll seems to be doing a lot better today. We pray that continues. We still aren’t sure what his medical issues are or how long he can stay in the hospital but it will be a while before he will be well enough to return home. They said he will go to Kent Community Hospital when he leaves Blodgett-the hospital he is in now. Kent Community is a rehab Hospital.

Good Luck Kristie on your Advancement Job Interview tomorrow!!

Russ' Dad

Russ’s Dad was taken to Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids by ambulance last night. Russ’ Mom called Ed & Rogor in the afternoon & asked that they come over to check on Dad. Ed is a nurse & thinks Dad has pneumonia with other problems. Dad was too weak to even stand so an ambulance was called. The hospital has run lots of tests & we’re waiting on the results...........

The New Addition…….

We finally have a new addition…..
Russ finally got his Harley a 2005 Ultra Classic & the color is Black Cherry …..
He purchased it from a dealership near Flint. They have it in stock but there are some modifications that need to be done so it will be a while before we pick it up… no problem since it’s a bit too cold to ride it anyway. There are some pictures of it still tied to the packing crate, also a picture from the Harley promo book. Take a look if you want……..

Happy New Year 2005!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2005!!!!

Dan has gone back to school….
The deer are all cleaned….
The Christmas decorations are all put away….
And even the snow is gone and the temp outside is 43!!!! There was freezing rain in the forecast for last night but by morning it was only rain. We got quite a bit of rain but don’t know how much since the rain gauge is put away. We saw Burnsville, MN on the weather channel with all their freezing rain and traffic troubles. Hope the Swanson’s weren’t out in it!!
Friday 12/31/04 was so nice – temp in the low 50’s but windy that we went for a “Bike” ride. Russ has been seriously looking for a new “Bike”. There isn’t much available. He found a 2004 at our local Harley dealer. When we took it for a ride it had 16 miles & when we returned it there was 24 miles on it. We’re still dickering on the price. It has most of the “stuff” on it Russ would like… we’ll see. We took pictures of it & I put them on this Blog…
We were supposed to have friends over for dinner today but they have sick kids so they’ll come next Sunday instead.
Go Lions!!
